Cordless Vacuums: Are They Good for Cleaning Carpet?

Cordless vacuums are a growing technology in the field of vacuum cleaners. While most traditional vacuums feature some sort of cord that’s plugged into an outlet cordless vacuums have the convenience of being used on the go usually after being charged. While some users may feel that the charging feature is somewhat of a downside I can say I fully recommend cord-free vacuums.

This article sums up some of the advantages of cordless vacuums and particularly how well they work on carpet, their flexibility and much more. Hopefully with this article you’ll be able to see some of the positives of cord-free vacuums.

Great for Carpet

The one thing many users feel skeptical about regarding cordless vacuums is how well their suction power performs. I can certainly understand the skepticism given that a battery that runs while holding a charge may offer less suction power but that isn’t the case for many models.

There are such a variety of cord-free vacuums such as upright, stick, handheld and more that all work well in their own ways. Not to mention they have actually lowered in price to fit many users’ budgets.

On carpet cordless vacuums are great especially in areas where there’s higher traffic. In a more expanded room cordless vacuums are still useful and I would recommend them over many of their corded counterparts. One thing that cordless vacuums work well on is stains in the carpet such as from a drink or even a pet.

In fact cordless vacuums also pick up pet hair rather easily as their suction power while in some cases may not be as powerful as traditional vacuums still is able to sweep up any residue left behind from pets. Their performance is solid and not to mention while working cordless vacuums are traditionally much quieter than corded vacuums which makes cleaning a lot less noisy.

Flexibility

As indicated by their name cordless vacuums are exactly that cordless. Traditional vacuums typically have a cord that needs to be plugged into an outlet which can make your overall cleaning area rather restricted. Cordless vacuums on the other hand allow you to easily clean a room or multiple rooms without having to worry about being attached to the wall.

This makes their flexibility top notch which is great for areas like stairs that present an issue with a cord either not being long enough or in the user’s way meaning they could potentially trip over it. Cordless vacuums won’t get caught on furniture while cleaning.

Some if not most cordless vacuums do come in a handheld variety making cleaning your car or even the surfaces of couches and tables much easier. Since cordless vacuums are able to virtually move wherever the user cleans this makes them one of the better options on the market.

The one downside is that they are battery powered but this shouldn’t take away from all the areas you’re able to clean with one charge of the vacuum.  Once it’s ready to go you’ll be able to cover a lot of ground without the hassle of getting tangled up.

Usually Lightweight

Cordless vacuums have a pretty big advantage over other vacuums on the market due to the fact that they’re rather lightweight. Most cordless vacuums don’t weight over eight to ten pounds (or roughly 3.6 kg to 4.5 kg) making them not only easy to transport but to store away as well.

With a lightweight vacuum this makes getting to harder areas much easier as you don’t have to worry about the weight of the vacuum holding you back. The design of lightweight vacuums is much slimmer compared to their bulky counterparts which also plays a role in getting into tricky areas.

The one thing I really enjoy about a cordless vacuum being lightweight is that it makes cleaning the stairs much easier. Not only would I have to worry about tripping over the cord and making sure it was plugged in but I also had to transport the vacuum up and down the stairs which gets to be pretty taxing after a while.

With a cordless vacuum I don’t have nearly the same problems and cleaning has become a lot more efficient now that I’m spending less time having to carry the vacuum and find an outlet close enough to where the vacuum won’t become unplugged.

Easier for Harder to Reach Areas

Cordless vacuums as mentioned earlier are very flexible and lightweight which allows them to be used not only more frequently than other vacuums but in all areas. There are many cordless vacuums which can be used on both the floor and ceiling which makes them a lot more efficient when compared to traditional stand up vacuums.

Personally I like the versatility that cordless vacuums offer and with their slimmer build being able to reach areas without having to use a secondary vacuum makes cleaning much easier and cuts down my time spent cleaning.

Cordless handheld vacuums in particular are able to reach many areas that stand up cordless vacuums can’t reach. For instance handheld cordless vacuums can clean on the top of shelving or in between the cushions of a couch or cat seats.

Storage has become super simple with cordless vacuums and they can easily fold up if you’re taking it on the go. Most of the cordless vacuums I’ve come across are not only built solid but are flexible in their builds so that they don’t break even when bending and cleaning in awkward areas.

 Conclusion

Overall I hope this article was able to give you a little more insight into cordless vacuums. While some potential users may be a bit skeptical of the battery life I would say not to let that stop you from purchasing a cordless vacuum.

These vacuums are especially great for smaller areas and areas where there’s a lot of traffic either from others in your home and pets. I would recommend you check out a cordless vacuum if you’re looking for something that’s cheap but effective.
